History

A Hamlet Steeped in History

From Bronze Age discoveries and Viking roots — Everthorpe’s story is woven into the land.

Discover Our History

Everthorpe is a charming hamlet nestled between North and South Cave in the East Riding of Yorkshire, with roots stretching back over 3000 years to the Bronze Age. Everthorpe has transitioned from an estate-owned agricultural community to one that is now mainly residential.

From the remarkable Bronze Age Everthorpe Hoard discovered in 1842, through the Domesday Book entry of 1083, to the building of Everthorpe Hall in 1870, our hamlet has witnessed centuries of transformation while maintaining its rural character and close-knit community.

Today, Everthorpe is home to around 60 residents who cherish the peaceful countryside setting, the sense of community, and our shared spaces - including our beautiful community orchard, which has become a gathering place for residents and visitors alike.
